Five people, including three children, were inside an apartment early this morning when two men kicked in the front door, assaulted one of the adults and stole a cell phone, Vicksburg police said.

The attack was reported at Lake Hill Apartments at 12:15, Sgt. Sandra Williams of the Vicksburg Police Department said.

The complex is in a cluster of apartment buildings on Lake Hill Drive, off Buena Vista Drive.

The adult who was hit with a handgun was treated at the scene, Williams said. No other injuries were reported.

The two men took a cell phone valued at $100 and ran away, Williams said.
