I was very pleased and very impressed with the flag activities at the Old Court House and with the cannon firings at Fort Hill on Jan. 8. Each activity was very well executed and was most educational. The national history in which Vicksburg was involved can be overpowering when one stops to reflect how far reaching it has been, and how much it changed our whole nation, and how it’s effects are still with us today.

My compliments to Burt Strickland and his cannon crews, Tim Kavanaugh and the Vicksburg National Military Park personnel who contributed to the overall success and to Jeff Giambone for his interesting and informative lecture. Kavanaugh and Giambone were outstanding.

Last but not least, The Vicksburg Post did an outstanding job on the entire activity.
