Meeting Tuesday:

• OK’d meeting minutes from Nov. 17 and 24.

• OK’d a request from the Vicksburg Knights of Columbus to have a pro-life movement walk Saturday from the St. Aloysius High School parking lot on Grove Street to the Monument for the Unborn at Cedar Hill Cemetery. No roads will be blocked but the group will have Vicksburg police escort during the walk set to begin at 11 a.m.

• OK’d a request from the Warren County-Vicksburg Public Library for complimentary use of Vicksburg Auditorium to host an African-American History Quiz Bowl event Feb. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. Local and regional high schools are invited to participate. To participate, call the library at 601-636-6411.

• Received sealed bids for 41 line items for storm sewer pipe from Summit Pipe & Supply of Jackson and G&O Supply of Houston. A third bid from Central Pipe Supply of Pearl was rejected because it was received 28 minutes after the 9 a.m. deadline. Sealed bids for sewer pipe and castings were received from Summit Pipe & Supply; for asphalt from APAC-Mississippi of Jackson; and for concrete from Vicksburg Ready Mix, which was rejected because it was received 2 minutes after the 9 a.m. deadline. The board OK’d re-advertisement for concrete. No sealed bids were received for a 1986 jet fuel truck and no re-advertisement was requested.

• Rejected a bid of $136,938 from Independent Roofing Systems of Jackson for painting of two hangars at the Vicksburg Municipal Airport on U.S. 61 South because the bid was not within the budget.

• Awarded bids to Gary Jones Pest Control of Vicksburg for pest control, to Highway 27 Motors of Vicksburg for city towing and towing for victims of crime and to Just Duett Sports and Sports Center, both of Vicksburg, for recreational supplies.

• Authorized the city clerk to advertise sealed bids for fuel access card services.

• Heard about the upcoming performance of “All Shook Up” from Larry Gawronski, executive director of VenuWorks. The show will be at 8 p.m. Friday at the auditorium. Tickets are $22 to $52.

• OK’d the Mississippi Department of Public Safety close out of documents for fiscal year 2011 Mississippi Leadership Council on Aging, TRIAD, grant project.

• OK’d amending the budget with the Federal Railroad Administration for the Washington Street Bridge project. Money was moved from line-item acquisitions and contingencies to site work and equipment. Land structures were decreased by $139,250, architecture and engineering fees decreased by $413 and contingencies decreased by $518,842. Site work increased by $28,718 and equipment line item increased by $629,787. The project’s completion date is set for first week in May.

• OK’d a five-year, $20,537.10 maintenance agreement with Kossen Inc., for maintenance of the generator at waste water plant.

• OK’d an agreement with Mississippi Development Authority Energy Efficient and Conservative Block Grant award for $101,974 for the installation of energy-efficient lighting. The grant required no local match.

• Gave consent for an easement to cross under Wisconsin Avenue to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District.

• Adopted a resolution granting conditional approval for tax abatement for Walnut Hills restaurant, 1214 Adams St.

• OK’d a request for a full-page advertisement for $200 at the Mississippi Black Caucus/Local Elected Officials midwinter conference set for Sunday through Tuesday in Jackson.

• Accepted a letter establishing special assessment and adopted a resolution for cutting and cleaning order for demolition and site clearing of the following properties: 908 Walnut St., owned by Fidelity Lodge No. 507; 924 Meadow St., owned by Gwen L. Williams; 1322 Wood St., owned by State of Mississippi; 1938 Baldwin Ferry Road, owned by T.J. Robinson/Cassandra Reed; 1505 and 1507 Grove St., owned by Henry Jr. and Rosalyn Mayfield; 1620 Main St., owned by Sit Tong Len Soong; and 1615 Marcus St., owned by Miss U Holdings.

In closed session, the board:

• Discussed a termination in the water mains department, a resignation in the police department and eight pay adjustments in building and inspections, sewer, gas, water and gas, and right of way departments.

• Discussed three personnel matters in administration, street and police departments.
