Gloria Lee Phillips Davis

TOPEKA, Kan. — Gloria Lee Phillips Davis died Aug. 15, 2011, at Midland Care Hospice House in Topeka following a battle with ovarian cancer.

Gloria was born in 1937, the only daughter of Emery and Lydia Beam of Mankato, Kan. She earned her bachelor of science degree in education from Kansas University and her master’s in special education from University of Louisiana at Monroe. She was a beloved teacher for many years at Claiborne Christian Academy.

She is survived by her husband, John Davis of Topeka; daughter, Sally L. Phillips Green and husband Brian of Vicksburg; son, Philip E. Phillips of Wichita, Kan.; four grandchildren, David Phillips of Shreveport, La., Matthew Phillips, Wichita, and Sydney Albritton and Michael Green, both of Vicksburg. Also surviving are stepchildren, Doug Davis and wife Sally; Cynthia Pfannenstiel and husband Mike; Mike Davis and wife Kathy; six stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, from 6 until 8 tonight. Funeral service will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene with interment to follow Saturday at 1 p.m. in Mankato with burial at Mount Hope Cemetery.
