Shirley S. Wehmeyer died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at River Region Medical Center. She was 82.

Born in Vicksburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert Edgar Smith and Fannie Lee Kahn Smith Evans. Mrs. Wehmeyer was a 1946 graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy. She was a retired secretary for the Waterways Experiment Station and a member of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Carol McFadden; two sons, Noll E. Wehmeyer Jr. and Arthur Lee Wehmeyer; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
