Francis Wall Cessna

UTICA — Francis Wall Cessna died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at Windsor Place in Columbus. He was 90.
Mr. Cessna was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II and the Army National Guard. He was a Mason and a member of the Knights Templar, having been awarded the York Rite Cross of Honour. He was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Vicksburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Culbertson and Evia Melvina Boyd Cessna; five brothers, Robert, Patrick, Shelby, Culbert and Eugene Cessna; four sisters, Carrie Beaube, Ruby Leach, Alice Ferrell and Mary Ford; his wife of 66 years, Cela B. Ford Cessna; one son, William Cessna; and one grandson.
He is survived by his daughter, Jean Bailey of Columbus; three sons, Randy Cessna of Utica, Gary Cessna of Franklinton, La., and David Cessna of Clatskanie, Ore.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Utica Christian Church in Utica with the Rev. Brad Hartzog officiating. Burial will follow at the Utica Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service at the church. Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica has charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be nephews Bill Cessna, Roy Cessna, Burt Strickland, Randy Cessna, Denny Kitchens and Lee Herren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Murray Griffin, John McKee, R.C. Mobley, Melvin Breeden and other friends at Utica Christian Church.
