A Vicksburg man was wounded Sunday night in a shooting after dropping a woman off at her home on Hall Road, Vicksburg police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

Derrick Gaines, 37, 5210 U.S. 61 South, was wounded in the right shoulder about 10:24 when someone fired several shots at his 1992 Lexus as he was leaving the woman’s home in the 200 block of Hall Road.

He was taken to River Region Medical Center and transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where he was treated and released.

Stewart said Jerome Montgomery, 27, of Vicksburg, the woman’s ex-boyfriend, who was at her home when she was dropped off, is wanted in the shooting.
