OUT OF A MOLE HOLE

Holding onto 1-year-old Makiyah Horton, Kyra Reed uses a stick to inspect a mole that climbed out of its hole on Oak Street Wednesday. Moles generally stay below ground level, living off small insects, grubs, slugs, snails and centipedes, but come out to travel, said Wesley Purvis, the Warren County Extension director. At right, the mole searches for a new place to dig. Makiyah is the daughter of Takeia Carson.
