A native and former resident of Vicksburg died Saturday in a one-vehicle accident on County Road 5 in Carroll County, south of Vaiden, Carroll County Coroner Ken Strachan said.

Strachan said Jinx Peterson Smith, 20, of Vaiden, was killed about 5:10 p.m. when his southbound 2008 GMC Sierra pickup went off the right side of the road into a wooded area and flipped, ending upside down in a small creek near the road.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
