A freedom ride

A group of horseback riders calling themselves the Freedom Trail Riders make their way along Washington Street Wednesday as part of their 800-mile journey from Decatur City, Iowa, to Hermanville. The ride in honor of veterans and in support of Disabled American Veterans and Horses 4 Handicapped has been discussed for 20 years by brothers Herman and Cline Williams, right, as a welcome-home to Herman from military duty in the Vietnam war. The brothers grew up in Hermanville, but Herman lives in Decatur City. Some riders in the photo are Warren County residents who joined just for the local ride. The riders can be tracked on Facebook at FreedomTrailRide.
