Mr. and Mrs. Charles Richard Johnson Jr. of Waveland announce the engagement of their daughter, Abigail Hope, to Daniel Alexander Ivey of Brandon. Mr. Ivey is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. Brian Ivey Sr. of Vicksburg.

Miss Johnson is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Richard Johnson Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Calvert LeRoy Smith of Bay St. Louis.

Mr. Ivey is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nix Ivey of Walkersville, Md.; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Marshall Kelly of Jasper, Ala.; and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lee Thornton of Panama City, Fla.

The bride-elect is a 2008 graduate of Bay High School in Bay St. Louis, where she was an honor student and a member of DECA and the track and soccer clubs.

Miss Johnson attended William Carey University and is a student at Mississippi College, receiving a soccer scholarship at both schools.

The prospective groom is a 2006 graduate of Porters Chapel Academy, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club and baseball and basketball teams.

He received a bachelor’s degree in religion in 2010 from William Carey University.

Mr. Ivey is an intern at Pinelake Church in Brandon.

The wedding will be at 6 p.m. May 21, 2011, at Christ Episcopal Church in Bay St. Louis. A reception will follow at the home of the bride’s aunt. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.
