Big Game Mike delivered another big win for Vicksburg.

Mychal Ammons, nicknamed “The Monster” by his teammates, scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to rally the Gators past Starkville for a 69-54 win and the Class 6A North State championship Saturday night.

Vicksburg (26-3) advanced to the Class 6A state tournament, where it will face Pascagoula on March 2 at 2:30 at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.

It’s the third time in four seasons the Gators have advanced to the state tournament, and they’re seeking their first state title since 2003.
