Mose Ella Dee Carpenter

PORT GIBSON — Mose Ella Dee Carpenter died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at Claiborne County Senior Care in Port Gibson. She was 86.
Mrs. Carpenter was a member and mother at Mercy Seat M.B. Church. She owned and operated Carpenter’s Variety Store for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl McDaniel and Mary Ella Dee; her husband, Willie “Kid” Carpenter; her sisters, Martha Alice Williams, Loretta Dee, Eurladean Dee and Clara Taylor; her brothers, Leonard Dee Jr., Arthur McDaniel, Herman McDaniel, Leon McDaniel, Leotis McDaniel, Rude McDaniel and Thomas McDaniel.
Survivors include her son, Devon Williams Carpenter of Port Gibson; six sisters, Angela Dee and Rose Dee Smith, both of Port Gibson, Carrie Bolton, Deloris Brown and Ola Hill, all of Jackson, and Lucy Chambers of Memphis; two brothers, Samuel McDaniel of Jackson and Sam McDaniel of Port Gibson; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mercy Seat M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Frank McGriggs officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be today from 1 until 6 at Thompson Funeral Home and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service.
