WC, VHS set for first meeting of season

On paper, Warren Central should be a heavy favorite heading into tonight’s game against archrival Vicksburg.

Both the Vikings (10-3-2) and Lady Vikes (8-5-2) have gotten off to great starts this season, while both Vicksburg teams have struggled. In this rivalry, however, that never seems to matter.

Eleven of the last 14 games between the girls’ teams have been decided by one goal or ended in a tie. Last year, Warren Central won the first meeting 1-0 and the second in a shootout to sweep the season series for the first time.

The two boys’ games both ended with Vicksburg winning in shootouts, helping it earn a playoff berth although WC had a much better overall record.
