A teenage father was killed in a one-car wreck on Redbone Road this morning after he ran from Vicksburg police, the second fatal wreck in Warren County in three days.
Christopher Lynn Jr., 19, 2217 Glass Road, died at the scene of the wreck reported at 7, Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey said.
A passenger, Christopher Goss, 17, 110 Mckenzie Drive, was driven by Vicksburg ambulance to the nearby Vicksburg Municipal Airport and airlifted to University Medical Center in Jackson, Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong said.
Armstrong said police began chasing Lynn’s 1997 Ford Ranger on U.S. 61 South after a vehicle matching its description was reported driving recklessly on Grange Hall Road.
“He started doing do-nuts on 61, and the officer began pursuit,” Armstrong said. “He drove onto Belva Drive and continued to ignore the officer until he drove onto Redbone Road before he wrecked.”
The wreck, in which the truck left the road and flipped several times before coming to a stop, occurred about a mile outside the city limits in the 1300 block of Redbone, Armstrong said. Redbone Road, a two-lane road off U.S. 61 South, remained closed to through traffic at midmorning.
Huskey said Lynn died from head injuries and no autopsy would be performed.
Family members said this morning that Lynn is the father of a young son, whose age and name were not available.
Glenwood Funeral Home will have charge of arrangements, Huskey said.
In a wreck Sunday morning, Latoshia Haggan, 31, 122 John Allen St., was killed when the vehicle in which she was a passenger careened off a hill near Old Highway 27 and North Frontage Road.
The wreck was the first fatality in Warren County outside the city this year. Two have been reported in the city.
