Chill in the Hills gears up for third running

In only its third year, the Chill in the Hills run is not expected to quite live up to its name. That doesn’t mean, however, enthusiasm is waning for the 10-kilometer run and 5-kilometer racewalk through the streets of downtown Vicksburg Saturday.
About 200 people have preregistered for the city’s first road race of the year. The number is slightly ahead of last year’s pace and, with warmer weather forecast for raceday, organizers are expecting entries to surpass last year’s total of 208 participants.
About 250 runners and walkers completed the race in each of its first two years — when temperatures in the 30s were accompanied by a steady breeze — and roughly 300 registered each time.
No-shows on race day account for the difference.
