Mychal Ammons is now a professional basketball player.
The former Vicksburg High star will begin his career overseas after signing a pro contract with Feni Indistrija of the Macedonian First League.
The First League is the top level of basketball in the country. Feni Indistrija has won three league titles and three regular-season championships singe 2007-08.
Ammons led Vicksburg to the 2011 Class 6A championship game before heading to South Alabama, where he averaged 10.0 points and 6.6 rebounds in three seasons. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound forward ranks eighth all-time on USA’s career rebounding list.
Ammons announced last month that he was leaving South Alabama to pursue a pro career in Europe.
“We’re excited for Mychal and pleased that he’s going to realize his dream to play professional basketball,” South Alabama coach Matthew Graves said in a school release. “This was always a goal of his, and for it to finally come true means a great deal to him.”
