Three men accused of attempted murder while shooting an elderly couple in the head during in a home invasion will ask Thursday to be released on bail before they go to trial.
Rodriguez Lenez Lyons, 20, Tierre Jante Hill, 23, and Kenjarvis Deantae Thomas, 17, will appear before Circuit Judge Isadore Patrick at 9 a.m. Thursday to ask for bail in the murder cases against them.
The three men have been held without bail since Jan. 17 when they were arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of armed robbery and burglary.
After the trio was indicted earlier this month by a Warren County grand jury, Patrick set separate trials for the men for Aug. 25.
The hearing had been set for Tuesday, but it was postponed so members of the victims’ family could attend, Patrick said.
“They asked that they be present at the bail hearing,” Patrick said.
They are accused of shooting a 78-year-old man and his 74-year-old wife in the back of the head with a .22-caliber rifle during a home invasion Jan. 14 on Shenandoah Road in southern Warren County.
Shenandoah runs north from Fisher Ferry Road and connects to Winchester Road.
The husband and wife survived the shootings and returned home after treatment at University Medical Center in Jackson.
Lyons, Thomas and Hill are accused of following the couple home from a casino on Warrenton Road and waiting a short time before breaking into the house.
Once inside, the robbers stole cash, a laptop computer, a rifle and a shotgun, according to the indictments against Lyons, Thomas and Hill.
Warren County Judge Johnny Price denied bail for the three men during a hearing Jan. 21. During that hearing, Hill admitted he was guilty of breaking into the home.
“I’m guilty of burglary, but …” Hill said before Price advised him to not make any more statements without an attorney present.
