Reader proposes new form of city government

Though a resident of Madison I have a particular fondness for Vicksburg. I was born and raised there, leaving after graduation from high school to live in several states and one foreign country. Returning to Mississippi after sixty-three years I feel blessed to be here and equally blessed to be living so close to the beautiful and charming city of Vicksburg, which my wife and I visit often. I want to commend the current city administration for their efforts aimed at growing the city in quality of living and appearance. Yet I wonder if the city would be better served with a commission of ward councils and a mayor rather than the two alderman and mayor system now in existence. It is one of very few cities in the state so governed. It seems to me this would constitute a greater representation of the various constituencies of the city.
