Elbert L. Hebron Sr.

Elbert L. Hebron Sr. died Monday, June 9, 2014 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was born in Vicksburg on March 22, 1939 to the late Charlie and Vallie Hebron. He was a graduate of Bowman High School and Tyler Barber College. He was retired from Tyson Foods. He was the President Emeritus of the William Bill Sims Foundation and was one of the founding fathers of the Melinda Robinson Subdivision. He was a deacon of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church – Freetown.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hebron was preceded in death by his siblings, Minnie Jones, Charlie Hebron Jr., Ollie Mae Sims, Will Walter Hebron, Lizzie Peaches, Viola Sims, and Leon Hebron.
He is survived by his wife Robbie of Vicksburg; three sons, Walter “Bullwhip” Griffin and Elwin Johnson of Vicksburg, and Elbert Hebron Jr. of Humble, Texas; two daughters, Beveraly Hebron Wallace of Jackson, and Valerie Duffin of Ypsilanti, Mich.; and two sisters, Ruth Sims and Artimease Clayton of Vicksburg. He has a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends, including members of the Sims, Daniel, and Wheatley families.
Funeral services for Mr. Hebron will be held Saturday, June 14, at 11 a.m. at House of Peace Worship Church at 1301 Holly Street in Vicksburg. The family hour will be held Friday, June 13, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Jefferson Funeral Home.
