Stephen Scott Strong of Utica died at home Tuesday, June 10, 2014. He was 50.

Steve held a master’s degree from Auburn University in ornamental horticulture. He worked for many years as a county agent for multiple counties in Mississippi, and taught horticulture for Jefferson State Community College in Birmingham, Ala. He was born in Montgomery, Ala., but lived most of his adult life in Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lenton W. Strong of Utica.

Survivors include two daughters, Anna Elaine and Alison Lee Strong of Birmingham, Ala.; mother, Ann B. Strong; brother, David L. Strong  (Sylvia); sister, Barbara Thum (Michael); two nieces and one nephew, all of Utica.

Visitation will be Monday, June 16, 2014, at Utica Christian Church from 9 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. with Brother Brad Hartzog officiating. Burial will be at Cayuga Cemetery.
