Melvin “Mickey” Mullinax, 61, of Vicksburg, died Thursday, June 12, 2014.
Mickey was born Aug. 13, 1952, in Albertville, Ala. He was a veteran of the Army. He retired from the Engineer Research and Development Center with 30 years of service.
He was an active member of his community and was beloved by all.
Mr. Mullinax leaves behind his wonderful wife, Renee; his three sons, Chris, Michael and Wyatt; his brother, Stephen; and his three grandchildren, Leia, Millie and Mattie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Lou Allen and his sister, Dorene “Rene” Skinner.
If you were ever in one of the local hotspots, you probably knew Mickey. He was the sweetest guy you could know. His home was always open for hospitality if needed.
He enlisted in the Army in 1973, and medically retired in 1977 from a training accident where he suffered a shrapnel wound to his arm. In spite of his injury, he continued to serve as a proud civilian. Mickey was rarely seen without one of his many patriotic veterans caps. He loved his country, and wouldn’t let anyone forget about the active military personnel serving in support of our freedom.
