Dorothy Rowell

Dorothy “Dot” Rowell died Friday, June 20, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. She was 81. Born in Talladega, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Jimbo Cooper and Zelma Butterworth Cooper. Mrs. Rowell had been a resident of Vicksburg for 50 years and was a retired employee of Marathon LeTourneau. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many. Mrs. Rowell was a member of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Wilson, Vicksburg, grandson: Charles “Booger” Wilson (Christy) of Vicksburg; two great-grandchildren, Alexa and Cade Wilson; and three sisters, Kristine Clowers, Sarah Freeman and Diane Matson.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George M. Rowell; her son: Johnny A. Rowell; 3 sisters, Jimmie Nell Woods, Ninah Nabors and Annie Sue DeMase and two brothers, Jerry Cooper and Noble Cooper.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Curtis, Pastor of Warrenton Independent Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.
