Pauline Melsheimer

Mrs. Pauline “Polly” Melsheimer died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at  Willow Creek Nursing Center in Byram. She was 94.

Born in Vicksburg, she was the daughter of the late Vincent DiRago and Mary Coccaro DiRago. Mrs. Melsheimer was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy in the Class of 1937, and was elected Miss St. Francis Xavier by her fellow students.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister.  Mrs. Melsheimer was a lifelong communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church and the St. Paul Altar Society.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbe Waggener (John) of Terry; three sons, Matt Melsheimer (Ann) of Scottsdale, Ariz., Eugene “Gene” Melsheimer of Vicksburg and David Melsheimer (Karol) of Mobile, Ala.; and grandchildren, Farley Walker, Jeremy Walker and Krista Melsheimer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene F. Melsheimer; and three brothers, Leonard DiRago, Marion DiRago and Joseph DiRago.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014, at St. Paul Catholic Church, with visitation at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the service.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Pallbearers will be Matt Melsheimer, Gene Melsheimer, David Melsheimer, John Waggener, Joe DiRago and Joe Coccaro.
