Willie Jordan died Friday, July 4, 2014, at University Medical Center after an illness. He was 92.
Mr. Jordan was a horticulturalist and worked in home gardens. He was a deacon and member of the Ebenezer M. B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Mae Ella Jordan, his first wife Fannie Jordan, his second wife Annie Lee Jordan, his daughter Bennie Tate, his brothers Robert Jordan. Arthur Jordan, Walter Jordan and Henry Jordan, his sisters Walterine Jordan, Mary Jordan, and Dee Essie Jordan.
Survivors include four sons, Augusta Jordan, of Tupelo, Walter Jordan, of Garden Grove, Calif., Theotis Jordan and Jerry Jordan, both of Fort Worth, Texas; seven daughters, Willie Ruth Jordan-Hobbs of Long Beach, Calif., Minnie Berry and Juanita Foster, both of Tupelo, Addie Fellows of Fort Worth, Linda Faye Jordan of Chicago, Shirley Irving of Tupelo and Marvelena Jordan of Vicksburg; one brother, Andrew Jordan, of Chicago; one sister, Leatha Jordan, of Texas; 22 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and others.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014, in the chapel of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Michael Reed officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 6 p.m. Friday in the chapel.
