City man jailed for drive-by shooting

A Vicksburg man was being held without bond in the Issaquena County Corrections Facility accused of shooting a woman and firing shots into homes and cars on Harrison, Grammar and Martha streets during a July 4 drive-by shooting, Vicksburg police Lt. Troy Kimble said.
He said Marcus Wilson, 24, 1300 Harrison St., is charged with aggravated assault and multiple counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling and shooting into an occupied vehicle. He will have an initial appearance Monday in Municipal Court. He was arrested Friday by police in the 1500 block of First North Street on a warrant charging him in the shooting, which occurred the evening of July 4 and wounded a woman who police said was an innocent victim.
Wilson was arrested after police served a search warrant on his home and found weapons and ammunition connected to the shooting. He was not at home when the warrant was served, Kimble said, resulting in the search that led to his arrest. The case remains under investigation and police are looking for other people involved in the shooting.
Vicksburg man slashes partner with knife
A Vicksburg man is accused of slashing his live-in partner with a knife during an argument at their home in the 700 block of Adams Street, Vicksburg police Lt. Troy Kimble said.
Korey Cage, 24, faces a charge of domestic aggravated assault in the incident, which occurred during an argument. The victim was taken to River Region Medical Center with a severe cut running from below the left eye to below the jaw line. He was later transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. His condition was not available.
Cage was arrested about 2 p.m. Saturday at a home in the 800 block of Third North Street after police were called to the hospital about 10:40 a.m. that morning about his partner’s injury. He was being held without bond in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility pending an initial appearance Monday in Municipal Court.
Man charged with child molestation
A man faces a charge of molesting a child under the age of 14 after his arrest Saturday morning at a home in the 4400 block of Halls Ferry Road, Vicksburg police Lt. Troy Kimble said.
Sean Higginbotham, 35, who police said was living at the home at the time of the sexual assault, was arrested about 10 a.m. Saturday at the home after officers received a complaint about him that morning. He is being held without bond in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility pending an initial appearance Monday in Municipal Court.
