M-Braves lose grip on first place

The Mississippi Braves’ quest for first place once again took a step backward Monday night.
Evan Marzilli and Todd Glaesmann each doubled and scored a run, Aaron Blair struck out seven in six innings of shutout ball, and Mobile beat the M-Braves 4-2. Barrett Kleinknecht went 2-for-4 with a run scored for the M-Braves, and Matt Kennelly hit an RBI double.
The M-Braves (33-24), who lost for the third time in four games, fell out of a three-way tie for first place in the Southern League South Division.
Jacksonville (34-23) beat Pensacola 6-5 on Monday to remain tied for the lead with Mobile (33-22). Mississippi is one game back with 13 left in the season.
Mississippi and Mobile play the third of their five-game series tonight at 7:05 in Mobile.
