Three men who broke into the home of an elderly couple and shot them in the head during a robbery will be sentenced next month.
Rodriquez Lenez Lyons, 20, and Tierre Jante Hill, 23, both took open pleas last week for two counts of attempted murder, and their accomplice, 17-year-old Kenjarvis Thomas, took an open plea to two counts of armed robbery, District Attorney Ricky Smith said.
Circuit Judge Isadore Patrick will sentence the three men at 9 a.m. Sept. 26.
All three men face up to life in prison.
The three are accused of forcing their way into the couple’s home in the 4300 block of Shenandoah Road shortly before 9 p.m. Jan 14.
Shenandoah Road runs north from Fisher Ferry Road and connects to Winchester Road.
During the robbery, Lyons and Hill shot a 78-year-old man and his 74-year-old wife in the head with a .22-caliber rifle, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace has said.
During his initial court appearance in January, Hill said he was guilty of burglary but didn’t shoot anyone.
After shooting the couple, the men fled with a cellphone, a laptop computer, a purse, a rifle and a shotgun, according to court records.
The couple had left a casino on Warrenton Road and was followed home by the men. Investigators identified the car the men were riding in from casino surveillance, and the car belonged to Lyons’ girlfriend, investigator Todd Dykes has said.
The man who was shot in the home has since died, but his death was not related to the shooting, Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey said.
