M-Braves keep hold on division lead

The Mississippi Braves held on to their half-game lead in the Southern League South Division with a 5-0 win over the Hunstville Stars on Friday night.

Greg Ross (7-3) took the win for the M-Braves with three strikeouts and four hits in seven innings pitched.

Mississippi struck first in the fifth inning on a Daniel Castro home run and never looked back, stringing together four more runs to take home the win. Center fielder Kyle Wren ended his night 4-for-4 with a triple, and Gustavo Nunez, Kyle Kubitza, Cedric Hunter and Braeden Schlehuber all drove in runs for the M-Braves.

The M-Braves lead the South Division by half a game over Jacksonville, which beat Mobile 8-3 on Friday.

Mobile is 3 1/2 games back with four remaining in the regular season.
