Claiborne County man held in murders
A Claiborne County man accused of killing two women was held without bail this morning.
Dennis McCay, 32, 4058 Barland Road, Pattison, was arrested late Monday in a wooded area of Jefferson County and returned to Claiborne County to be charged with two counts of murder, Sheriff Marvin Lucas said.
“He was spotted by some people in the Pattison area and they told us which way he went,” Lucas said.
McCay had been on the lam since Thursday when the bodies of Melvina Hedrick and Kawanna Williams were found under different bridges in Claiborne County.
The women were last seen with McKay, Lucas has said. Both of the women are believed to have had a relationship with McKay, and one of them had a child with him.
McKay was held without bail in the Claiborne County Jail this morning awaiting an initial court appearance set for Friday, Lucas said.
