Edwards man killed by train

An Edwards man was hit by a train and killed early this morning near Mount Moriah Road.
Milton Stokes Jr., 43, 165 King Court, was killed when he was hit by a train at about 1:50 a.m. today, Edwards Police Chief Louis Johnson said.
Stokes was walking west along the railroad tracks when the train struck him.
“He was walking home. His family said he walked that way all the time,” Johnson said.
The railroad tracks cross Mount Moriah Road about a quarter mile northwest of the Edwards Police Department.
Hinds County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death, but calls to a Hinds County spokesman were not returned this morning.
Stokes’ body was taken to the Mississippi Crime Lab in Jackson where at autopsy will be performed.
Two held for probation violations
A Yazoo County man and a Claiborne County man were arrested by Vicksburg and Warren County authorities Wednesday on warrants for probation violations.
At about 9 a.m., Albert Jones, 29, 163 Owens Drive, Bentonia, was arrested by Vicksburg police on a warrant from the Mississippi Department of Corrections, according to police records.
Jones was arrested during a traffic safety checkpoint at North Washington Street and Haining Road.
He was held without bail this morning in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility.
Additionally, Joe Gusta, 47, 404 Pecan St., Port Gibson, was held without bail in the Warren County Jail after being arrested by Warren County deputies on a warrant for a probation violation.
