Renovations at The Warren County-Vicksburg Public Library are taking slightly longer than expected. Deb Mitchel, director of the library, said she is excited to see how it looks when it all comes together.
She said she can see at the point where they are, that it will look good when they get finished.
“We’ve gotten all the shelves in place and are making a big shift of our collection,” She said she is adding room for the fiction and large typeface books.
Mitchell said the library does not have the network up yet, but will soon, and there is still some painting touch-ups to be done.
“It’s looking good. We can’t wait to unmask,” she said.
She added that having new carpet makes a big difference to her.
They are still trying to figure out where they are going to put everything. She said along with the added space in the fiction and large typeface books, she has shifted some other sections around to make more room in the audiovisual department.
“We’re also getting new furniture,” she said.
The new furniture will not be arriving for a few more weeks, but she said she is excited about it.
She said some of the old furniture was moved around and will look better.
When they get new furniture in, it will be comfortable lounge seating.
She said they could not replace the shelves.
“We’re making good with what we’ve got right now.”
The library will remain closed for the week of Monday, Sept. 15 through Sunday, Sept. 21. The doors will reopen to the public on Monday, Sept. 22 during normal operating hours of 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
