MSU drop-down pitching camp

Mississippi State will host its drop-down pitching camp Dec. 13 in Starkville. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is designed to provide intensive instruction on all aspects of drop-down pitching for players in high school and junior college. The instructors will be MSU pitching coach Butch Thompson and former major leaguers Chad Bradford and Scott Sullivan.

The cost of the one-day camp is $200. Players can sign up at hailstate.com/camps, and registration will begin at 8 a.m. the day of the camp.

Southern Miss baseball camps

Southern Miss will host its Fall Showcase baseball camp on Nov. 22 at Pete Taylor Park in Hattiesburg. The camp is designed to allow current high school freshmen through junior college sophomores to showcase their abilities and receive instruction from current Southern Miss coaches, junior college coaches, and other schools.

Registration starts at 11 a.m., and the camp at noon. The registration fee is $155 per camper.

Over the River Run registration

Registration is now open for the 26th annual Over the River Run, a 5-mile run and race walk and 1-mile children’s fun run across the Old Mississippi River Bridge.

The race is scheduled for Oct. 11, and will begin at 8 a.m. at the Mississippi Welcome Center on Washington Street. It is a Mississippi Track Club grand prix event. Raceday registration will begin at 6:30 a.m.

The registration fee is $30. The fee for children 10 and under is $20. There is also a $55 family rate, and a $75 rate for corporate teams.

Arrowhead Golf junior tournaments

The Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour will host the Island Junior Classic Oct. 11 and 12 at Island Country Club in Plaquemine, La. The entry fee for the 36-hole tournament is $195 and includes green fees, tee gifts and trophies in four age divisions. The entry deadline is Oct. 8.

The Arrowhead Tour will also host the Beaver Creek Fall Junior Classic at Beaver Creek Golf Club in Zachary, La., on Oct. 25 and 26. The entry fee for the two-day, 36-hole tournament is also $195, and the registration deadline is Oct. 22.
