Dorothy M. “Dot” Bass, 83, a former resident of Vicksburg, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014.

Services were Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Jackson. Burial was at Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland under the direction of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home of Jackson.

Mrs. Bass was born in Erie, Pa., but moved to Laurel, where she finished high school and graduated from Jones County Junior College.

After college, she married Hubert Bass. Together, they moved to Vicksburg. They were members of First Baptist Church of Vicksburg, where she was involved in WMU and Sunday school.

They were residents of Vicksburg until 1970 when they moved to Jackson.

Mrs. Bass is preceded in death by her sister, Frances Teet; her brother, Billy McCullough, known as “Son;” and her mother and father, Bill and Corine McCullough.

Survivors include her son, Hubert A. Bass of Baton Rouge, La.; her daughter, Pamela K. Bass-Finnegan of Madison; and three grandchildren.
