A Vicksburg woman who led a deputy on a high-speed chase before crashing her car into a parked truck and knocking it into the side of a home on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard was held without bail this morning.
Robin Michelle Saxon, 26, 10150 U.S. 61 South, Lot 12, was arrested Monday night and charged with felony eluding after leading the chase and crashing her Honda Accord into a parked truck, Sheriff Martin Pace said.
Deputy Robert Taylor was leaving the sheriff’s office at about 9:45 p.m. when observed the Accord traveling at “an extremely high rate of speed” northbound on Adams Street, Pace said.
Taylor began to pursue the car as it ran though stop signs at Grove and Adams and at Farmer and Openwood streets, Pace said.
On Openwood, Taylor lost sight of the vehicle shortly after it turned north on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Pace said.
As he was preparing to discontinue the pursuit, he came around a curve and noticed the Accord had crashed.
“It appears that she ran off the right-hand side of the road though a vacant lot, struck a parked vehicle which was propelled into the side of a house,” Pace said.
The home in the 1600 block of MLK suffered slight damage including a burst water pipe, Pace said. The resident of the home was inside asleep and was not injured, Pace said.
Saxon was arrested and placed in the back of Taylor’s patrol car, where she broke out a window, Pace said. Taylor received minor injuries from the broken glass.
Paramedics examined Saxon at the crash site. A male passenger in the Accord was taken to River Region Medical Center where he was treated and released, Pace said.
In addition to the felony eluding, Saxon was charged with “an array of misdemeanors” including driving with a suspended license, running two stop signs and destruction of county property, Pace said.
Saxon was held without bail this morning awaiting her initial appearance in Warren County Justice Court.
