Charles Deck

William Charles Deck died Oct. 29, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. He was 72.

Mr. Deck was born Jan. 11, 1942, in Fort Wayne, Ind., and married Ramona Sweeney on Nov. 11, 1961.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years, including duty stations in Guam, Iceland and Greece, as well as air force bases in Texas, Ohio, Michigan, and Oklahoma. During his military career, he also completed masters’ degrees in education and criminal justice. He retired with the rank of captain in October 1982 after serving as chief of security police at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Okla.

After retiring from military service, he and his family moved to Vicksburg in August 1984, and he worked as a security supervisor at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station in Port Gibson, eventually becoming security superintendent there for over 16 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cletus A. and Henrietta Deck, and his youngest son, Warren C. Deck.

Survivors include his wife, Ramona Deck of Vicksburg; his William C. Deck Jr. of Branson, Mo.; and siblings Thomas Deck, Robert Deck, and Barbara Reynolds, all of Fort Wayne, Ind.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014 at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
