Arson suspected in early morning car fire

Arson is believed to be the cause of an early Saturday morning fire that destroyed a car in the 400 block of Locust Street.
Vicksburg police Lt. Troy Kimble said dispatchers received a call from a woman about 3:30 a.m. Saturday that her 2004 Chevrolet Impala was on fire, and firefighters arrived to find the rear of the car engulfed in flames. He said the owner of the car told officers she heard a loud pop, and when she looked outside, she saw her car on fire. The fire remains under investigation, and anyone with information about the fire is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477.
