First impressions make lasting impressions

There are those first impressions that stick with you long after you’ve become familiar with a person or place. It’s the reference point your mind immediately goes to when you think about them.
The same is said when you have that initial contact with someone. The impression you leave with them becomes the measuring stick of your character. You either leave with a lot to live up to, or a long road ahead to redeem yourself.
This can be said about more than just a person’s face-to-face meeting. Climbing onto the college circuit train with Scott has been a lot about first impressions. The first time you drive through the gates, the first time you are greeted by the admissions office, the first time you see the student center or library, all important when shaping your opinion about that college.
We have been extremely blessed with great experiences along the way thus far. Every local college we have visited has given great first impressions, to the point of creating a very hard decision for Scott to make when choosing his new home for the next four to five years.
Scott has also done very well with putting his best foot forward and showing each college right off the bat that he would be a great asset to their student body.
Yesterday, we attended Preview Day 2014 for Mississippi College in Clinton. The campus is beautiful and although it is a private college, it has the grandeur and grace of a larger university.
We were greeted by, what can only be described as caffeine induced cheerleaders/parking attendants, and the enthusiasm never stopped from there.
Every staff member, faculty and student who spoke gave the impression that they had found their life’s calling by being involved in some aspect at MC. It was another event that once again showcased the true spirit of hospitality that is unique to the South.
Scott has a lot of digging to do, to get past his first impression and see which college is the right fit for him. Only time will tell which of these impressions will last.
