Warren Central Intermediate School is a part of the greatness

Warren Central Intermediate was established in 1999. WCI is one of two mega schools that serves 3rd through 6th grade students. Our building is beautiful, clean, and safe for all students to grow and become college and career ready.
Failure is not an option at Warren Central Intermediate. Our faculty, staff, and students have embraced this motto by working very hard to change our “At Risk of Failing” label to a “Successful” school in just three years.
We are constantly working to improve instruction in our school by researching and implementing instructional strategies that work best for our students.
This year we are in the process of implementing Common Core State Standards. It has been a challenge for students, teachers, and parents at our school.
To help ease the frustrations, we hosted a Math Family Night and a Literacy Family Night. The purpose of those family nights was to explain the instructional shifts in math and literacy.
Research tells us that what a child learns at home is a critical component to his or her success at school. Warren Central Intermediate is currently the only Fuel Up to Play 60 Touchdown School in the district. We earned this status in the 2012-2013 school year by completing six steps in becoming a healthy school.
Our Physical Education department also earned a $4,000 grant from the National Dairy Council and Fuel Up to Play 60. The grant money is being used to create a walking track for the students and teachers.
We have also implemented Project Based Learning in two classes of 5th grade and in two classes of 6th grade. Project based learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to a complex question or problem.
Next year, we plan to expand project-based learning to all 5th and 6th grade classes. We have great teachers and great students at Warren Central Intermediate that are doing great things. I am proud to be a part of the GREATNESS at Warren Central Intermediate.
