Suspects in a shooting at a party on Washington Street in which three people were wounded are expected to be charged this afternoon.

“We will have that today at about 4 p.m.,” Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

Just after midnight Saturday Alton Burden Jr., 21, was shot in the leg, Tyree Barnett, 17, suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and Shamarr Horton, 19, was also wounded in the 3000 block of Washington Street, Williams said.

All three were treated and released from hospitals.

The shooting was the culmination of a fight at a house party where as many as 250 people were attending, Williams said.

At least three people were detained after the shooting.

Police have said the shooting could be related to shooting Nov. 3 in the 800 block of National Street in which two teens were wounded by a shotgun blast.

The Washington Street shooting might also be related to a shooting hours earlier on Polk Street.

At about 6:30 p.m. Friday, a homeowner on Polk Street called police to report her home had been shot into, Williams said. No one was injured in that shooting.

Anyone with information about the Polk Street shooting is encouraged to call Vicksburg police at 601-636-2511 or Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477. Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of a felony suspect.

Callers to Crime Stoppers remain anonymous and do not have to testify in court.

 

Man held for bomb threats to 911

A Warren County man accused of calling in bomb threats to 911 was held without bail this morning.

Bruce Moore, 41, 470 Gowall Road, was arrested Monday morning and charged with making a false bomb threat, Sheriff Martin pace said.

Beginning early Monday morning, Moore made several calls from a cellphone to 911 including a bomb threat, Pace said.

Moore was held without bail this morning in the Warren County Jail awaiting his initial appearance today in justice court.
