Testimony began Tuesday in Warren County Circuit Court in the murder trial of Rondell Galvin, who is accused of shooting a man during an argument over a loud car stereo in Kings.
District Attorney Ricky Smith said jury selection took most of the day Monday, moving opening arguments and testimony to Tuesday. He said the jury is sequestered for the trial, and expects testimony to run through Thursday.
Galvin, 23, 209 Overlook Drive, has remained free on $250,000 bail since the shooting, which occurred in July 2011. If convicted by a jury, he could be sentenced to life in prison.
Galvin is accused of shooting William Jones Jr., 20, 280 Curry St., in the front yard of his home about 2:15 a.m. July 15, 2011. His family found Jones’ body on the lawn of the home after they heard gunshots.
About $120 and a cellphone were missing after Jones’ death, according to court documents.
Jones and Galvin had been arguing earlier in the night after Jones asked Galvin to turn down his car stereo, according to court documents.
A car registered to Galvin’s stepfather was seen on Curry St. shortly before the shooting, witnesses told police.
Following the shooting, a witness reported seeing Galvin running near his home and hiding something under a storage shed. Police found a .410-caliber Taurus five-shot revolver under the shed, according to court documents.
