A suspected tornado knocked down trees damaged homes in Bovina on Monday afternoon.
The storm hit at about 5:30 p.m. near Allen Place and Tucker Road causing numerous downed trees and causing minor damage to five homes, said Warren County Emergency Manager John Elfer.
No one was injured in the storm, Elfer said.
The storm occurred as a cold front that moved across Louisiana and through Warren County. Severe weather had been predicted in Simpson and Smith Counties, and the National Weather Service issued no tornado warning here, Elfer said.
“It was a quick pop-up. Just because there is no warning doesn’t mean you shouldn’t pay attention to your surroundings,” Elfer said.
The National Weather Service was investigating the damage this morning to determine if the storm was a tornado. An initial examination of radar imagery showed a debris trail consistent with a tornado, Elfer said.
Two held for MDOC
Two people were held without bail this morning in the Warren County Jail on warrants for parole violations.
Walter Ainsworth, 29, 13 South St., Rolling Fork, and Monica Smith, 41, 510 Bazinsky Road, Apt. 4-E, were held on for the Mississippi Department of Corrections, according to Warren County Jail records.
