Lamar Chambliss

Lamar Chambliss died Thursday, Dec.18, 2014 at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 69.
A native of Marianna, Fla., he lived in Port Gibson for the past 52 years and was employed for Sheet Metal Workers Union #619 for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and a friend to all he encountered. He was of the Baptist faith.
Lamar was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Puddin Chambliss of Hermanville; his four sons, Steven (Bonnie) Chambliss, of Vicksburg, Melvin (Charmian) Chambliss of Redwood, Richard (Tina) Furr, of Vicksburg, and Tim (Monica) Clyburn of Bossier City, La.; two sisters, Martha Chambliss, of Oregon, and Betty Jean Welch, of Alabama; three brothers, Charles Chambliss of Florida, Thomas Chambliss of Port Gibson and Rodney Chambliss of Alabama; his grandchildren, Laura Walker, Beverly Darnell, Emily Chambliss, Chris Ashley, Walter Reeves, Michaela Chambliss, Shelbi Powell, all of Vicksburg, Andrew Chambliss, of Alabama, Joyce Chambliss, of Redwood, Miranda Studstill and Micaela Studstill, both of Florida, and great-grandchildren, Masie Walker and Chris Darnell, both of Vicksburg, and Cullen Chambliss, of Alabama.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 in the chapel of Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson with William May officiating. Interment will follow in the Unity Cemetery in Jefferson County.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Monday until the hour of the service.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Chambliss, Paul Chambliss, Jamie Bryant, Jerry Bryant, Tim Clyburn, James Tanksley, John Perry and Vernon Loyd.
Honorary pallbearers will be Huey Vines, Johnny Ray Bryant, Tommie Ray Bryant, Walter Kinnebrew and Tracy Shirey.
