John H. Smith died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 95.
Mr. Smith was born on May 18, 1919 to the late Howard Smith and the late Mattie Turner Smith in Warren County, Mississippi.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Smith and Mattie Turner Smith; sisters, Elizabeth Smith, Mattie Smith, Susie Smith, Mary Lee Smith and Catherine Fletcher.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Smith of Vicksburg; and his daughter, Edith Taylor of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014 at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with Fr. Malcolm O’Leary, SVD, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014 from 1-6 p.m., with the Rosary at 5 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
