PORT GIBSON — Samuel G. Hardges Jr. died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at University of Mississippi Medical Center. He was 79.
Mr. Hardges was a member of St. Peter Baptist Church and retired from the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, B.S. Hardges and Mary Hubert.
Survivors include his wife, Fannie M. Hardges, of Jackson; five sons, Samuel Hardges Jr., of Ridgeland, Emanuel Hardges and Arthur Claiborne, both of Pattison, Morris Claiborne and Donyell Claiborne, both of Jackson; two daughters, Janice Jackson, of Port Gibson, Hazel Jackson, of Chicago; a goddaughter, Aijaleth Jackson, of Pattison; two special friends, Edward McDaniel and Jeanette Moore-Jones, both of Pattison; and grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Services are noon Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at St. Peter Baptist Church with the Rev. Troy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Port Gibson.
Visitation is today from 3to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
