This is the year to have fun and be a little crazy

In years past, I have made a habit of making resolutions. At the same time, I have made a pretty good habit of breaking those same resolutions before the year was even off to a good start.
So, with that in mind, I figured instead of making resolutions, I would make a few promises that I know I can keep.
One — And, please note this is in no particular order. I promise to make every effort to be right in front of the television or in the stands for each and every Alabama football game.
I have learned though that watching the games on television are less expensive, the parking is easier and I normally do not have to wait in line at the bathrooms at my own house. (Notice I said “normally)
Two — I promise to not treat the aisles at local grocery stores as drag strips, seeing just how fast I can make it down each one while still getting each item on the prescribed shopping list.
This might sound a little juvenile (which is what my wife calls it), but the game does make the mundane act of looking for the proper brand of mayonnaise a little more exciting. But, alas, I will work to put an end to such foolishness.
Three — And, this is quite possibly the most important. This year, I promise to be as much of as a kid as my kids are. I promise to get dirty, stay up late, go outside and mess around whenever called upon.
I will look for reasons to say “yes,” rather than say “no.” I will look for every opportunity to go pitch softballs and throw, rather than thinking something is more important. Why, because there is nothing more important.
I have been blessed with a great family, complete with three children who are beyond crazy, nuts and energetic, lead by a wife who is over-the-moon gorgeous and kind-hearted.
This year is making the most of them and placing firm roots in Vicksburg.
From or family to yours and from the family at The Vicksburg Post, Happy New Year. Have fun.
