PORT GIBSON — Kenneth C. Barber Sr. died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at Claiborne County Medical Center. He was 69.
Mr. Barber taught school in the Claiborne County School District for 19 years. He was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Alcorn Chapter, and a member of Rising Sun M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rosie Barber.
Survivors include his wife, Lurline Robinson-Barber of Port Gibson; four sons, Keith Barber of Port Gibson, Kenneth C. Barber Jr. of New York, Kelcey Barber of Durham, N.C., and Antonio Benjamin of Antonio; an adopted daughter, Katlynn Hill of Port Gibson; adopted sister, Ceta Barber of Port Gibson; five stepdaughters, Stephanie Ivory of Grand Prairie, Texas, Esparanda Sampson-Crump of Vicksburg, Charlestine Robinson-Mathis of Pensacola, Fla., Bennetta Robinson of Jackson, and Pametrice Robinson of Port Gibson; a stepson, Benjamin Robinson of Port Gibson; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law, and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, including four goddaughters.
Services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at Magnolia M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Ray Coleman doing the eulogy and the Rev. Hugh Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Thompson Memorial Garden Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home. Inc. of Port Gibson.
Visitation is today from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home with a family hour from 5 to 6p.m. at Christian Chapel Church, and Wednesday at the church from noon until the service.
