One of two Warren County supervisors whose district will expand geographically in 2015 added his name to the list of candidates in local elections later this year.

District 2 Supervisor William Banks, a Democrat, filed for re-election late Tuesday for his north Vicksburg seat on the Board of Supervisors. The district covers areas north of Vicksburg, west of 61 North, and the Eagle Lake community. So far, seven have qualified, all incumbents. No other papers were filed this week. Qualifying ends Feb. 27 for this year’s state/county election cycle. Primaries are Aug. 4 and the general election is Nov. 3.

Redistricting after the 2010 census reshaped the district to reflect population loss inside the city. Starting this year, it expands north to Culkin Road and south along Mississippi 27 to Stenson Road. A strip of U.S. 80 between the city limits and Bucks Drive will stay in District 1.

District 3, represented since 1995 by Charles Selmon, gains in three spots for 2015 — along U.S. 61 South beyond the city limits to Grange Hall Road, south of East Clay Street between Old Highway 27 and Mississippi 27 and east of Halls Ferry Road in and around Lake Hill Drive. Selmon, a Democrat, also filed Tuesday.

In addition to 24 county and district races, eight statewide offices appear on Warren County ballots this year, including governor and lieutenant governor. Two multicounty district races on the ballot this year are for the Public Service Commission and Transportation Commission. Each elect northern, central and southern district commissioners.
