The St. Aloysius Lady Flashes and Lewisburg both started a long weekend of soccer by heading in opposite directions.

Harlie Ray scored two goals, while Raine Frazier and Madison Thweatt scored one apiece to lead Class 5A Lewisburg past the Class 1A Lady Flashes 4-0 Thursday night at Balzli Field.

“They were a good team and they outhustled us,” St. Al coach Don Rowland said. “The girls couldn’t make any passes tonight. They got us offsides quite a few times. We had quite a few shots. We just couldn’t put anything in the goal.”

The game was the first part of a Vicksburg soccer odyssey for Lewisburg (14-1). The Desoto County team will remain in town to play Vicksburg High tonight and then Warren Central on Saturday morning.

Lewisburg assistant coach Brett Fisackerly is a Warren Central graduate, and boys coach Harl Roehm has family ties to the city. The team made the trip in a charter bus, and Roehm said it was a way to break out of the normal routine and see some different teams.

It’s a sentiment Rowland can get behind, even if it means his team will face a murderer’s row as it plays four games in five days.

The Lady Flashes (7-5-1) will play at St. Andrew’s tonight and then host Pearl on Saturday, before hosting Madison-St. Joseph in a division game on Monday.

“It’s tough. We’re playing some of the better teams now,” Rowland said. “The day or two we have off, I’m going to let them have off.”

Senior Aaron Mathis had a goal on senior night, and eighth-grader Ryan Theriot added another for St. Al (4-6-1), but the Flashes gave up three goals in the first half and lost to Class 5A Lewisburg (10-4-1).

(G) Warren Central 7, Greenville 0

Lexi Stewart scored twice as Warren Central (6-11, 2-1 Division 4-6A) routed Greenville.

Jessica Hurley, Macy Claire Joseph, Katelyn Morson, Hailey Garner and Taylor Smith all scored for the Lady Vikes.

“We were forced to take shots more on the outside because of how Greenville played their defense, but I believe my girls adjusted well,” WC coach Viktoria Case said. “They had fun and just played soccer. Everyone was passing, so everyone had their opportunities to take on the goalie.”

Connor Wilkinson and Hank Holdiness each had a goal and an assist as Warren Central (12-4-2, 2-1 Division 4-6A) clinched a playoff berth by beating Greenville.

Sean Dixon, Max Wamsley, Elliott Stockett and goal keeper Brian McHan all scored goals for the Vikings.z
