Lewisburg continued to cut through Vicksburg’s soccer teams like a hot knife through butter on Friday night, beating Vicksburg High 4-0 at Memorial Stadium.

Harlie Ray scored two goals, while Audrey Gangwish and Jess Geraldson each scored one. The Lady Patriots scored twice in the last 10 minutes to put the game on ice.

Vicksburg goal keeper Virgie Demby played well in defeat, stopping 17 shots to keep it close. The Missy Gators (8-2) had plenty of scoring chances, too, but couldn’t convert on any of their 10 shots on goal.

The Missy Gators and Lady Patriots have both clinched playoff berths, but are on opposite sides of the bracket and wouldn’t meet again until the Class 5A North State championship game.

Vicksburg will play at Newton County today at noon in a makeup of an earlier rainout, while Lewisburg (15-1) — one of the top teams in Class 5A — will try to complete a sweep of all three Warren County teams.

Lewisburg beat St. Aloysius on Thursday, Vicksburg on Friday, and will play Warren Central today before heading back to Desoto County.

(B) Lewisburg 5, Vicksburg 0

The Vicksburg Gators were unable to build off the success of their overtime win over Callaway earlier this week, and were shut out at home by Lewisburg.

The Gators lost goal keeper Marc Grace and center back Lee Middleton to injury in the second half. VHS coach Michael Guidry said both players will miss today’s game against Newton County, but should play in a key division game Tuesday against Callaway.

Vicksburg needs to win Tuesday to secure a playoff berth — and a possible rematch with Lewisburg in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.

(G) St. Andrew’s 8, St. Aloysius 1

Anna Beauchamp scored a goal and Alexa Baldizon made eight saves, but it wasn’t enough to keep St. Aloysius’ slim playoff hopes alive. The Lady Flashes were eliminated from contention with a lopsided loss to St. Andrew’s.

The game was the second of four in a five-day span for St. Al. It lost to Class 5A Lewisburg on Thursday night, will host Class 5A Pearl today at 11 a.m., then host Madison-St. Joe on Monday in a division game.
